Easy Vegan Keto Recipes

HAPPY SUPERBOWL SUNDAY EVERYONE! GO PATRIOTS! Here is another “lazy” or easy kinda of post. If you have been with me for a while now I did a series called the best/worst of something. I’ve been working to put all the best and worst posts into its own separate post so you can reference when you need it. Before the new year, I wanted to start a new series. I didn’t know what to call It in the beginning and I called it lazy keto vs. strict keto. I didn’t like the word lazy because that Implies that I am calling you lazy and I AM NOT calling anyone lazy. So I changed the name to “easy”  which is still not the final name.

The Idea behind this series is that I give you the easy way out but still with max benefits. Let’s be honest there is really no “easy” way out but I’m giving you quick meal recipes, quick exercises that take less than 30 minutes a day and I give you exercises that you can do throughout the day that you might be doing already but didn’t know.

If you have any ideas that you want to see in this series you can comment on this post or you can reach me at any of the links plus my email that Is all linked at the bottom of every post.

From restaurant menus to new products on store shelves, ketogenic foods are all the rage right now. The keto diet focuses on high-fat, low-carb foods that are low in sugar with a moderate amount of protein. And if you’re interested in giving this diet a try, you may be wondering what plant-based foods are keto-friendly and if it’s possible to be vegan on a keto diet.

While there are certainly vegan items that should be avoided or limited—like starchy root vegetables, beans, and berries—there are tons of healthful, satisfying vegan foods, from leafy greens and cauliflower to almond butter and tofu, that you can eat when trying a keto diet!

We’ve scoured the web and some of our favorite food bloggers to find you the very best keto-friendly vegan recipes.

Remember, plant-based diets are clinically proven to be one of the best ways to lose weight and safeguard against obesity. While the keto diet may be fine to try for a short period of time, it’s not recommended long term.

Additionally, scientific evidence that a nutritious plant-based diet is beneficial for your health continues to mount; countless studies show that vegans have lower rates of heart disease and diabetes and may even live longer!

Pruvit’s New Keto NAT

Pruvit’s New Keto NAT

This next generation technology makes Keto NAT the first of its kind all natural exogenous ketones, bioidentical to the ketones your body makes.

Using a unique and proprietary all-natural fermentation process, this new ketone technology brings greater bioavailability for maximum absorption.

Keto NAT is now a Pruvit mainstay

(Get Keto NAT Heart Tart while supplies last because this is a VERY popular flavor and when in stock sells out fast!)

Pruvit Keto NAT All Natural Ketones

Keto NAT Details

First of its kind all natural pure therapeutic ketones

All natural fermentation process

Better Bioavailability/Quicker Ketosis

Increased appetite suppression

Favorable fat loss

Contains C-Med 100 (AC-11 DNA Repair)

Supports healthy cell function

Extends DNA telomere length

Rapidly repairs DNA

Elevates essential amino acids

Dairy-free and Gluten-free

Boosted immune function

Better performance

Keto NAT was released in two flavors, Raspberry Lemonade and Splash (watermelon-grapefruit fusion), both of which are Keto Max flavors.

Keto NAT Ingredients

N8 Max NAT Blend 12.6 g –

  • KetoNAT™ (R-Beta Hydroxybutyrate, L-Taurine, Fermented L-Leucine, C-Med 100).
  • Other Ingredients: Erythritol, Citric Acid, Natural Flavor, Rebaudioside A (Stevia extract), Vegetable Juice Color, Xanthum Gum, Beta Carotene, Caffeine (if Charged version, Decaf available).
  • Caffeine equivalent to a 16 oz coffee.

Supplement Facts –

  • Calories: 45
  • Total Carbs 5 g
  • Sugar alcohol 4 g
  • Net carbs 1 g
  • Vitamin B6 294%, Vitamin B12 4167%, Calcium 270 mg, Sodium 910 mg

What is C-Med 100?

Pruvit ketones have been advancing for some time and the additional of AC-11 in the new Keto Max and Keto Kreme formulas was one such advancement.

C-Med 100 is the new trade name for the AC-11 DNA repair (Inner Bar of Uncaria Tomentosa) and Keto NAT contains a proprietary amount of C-Med 100.

The Keto Reboot Kit also contains AC-11 within its Signal OS pills.

What is R-Beta Hydroxybutyrate

Beta Hydroxybutyrate (BHB) is the ketone body found in exogenous ketone supplements which are typically bound to salts and minerals. Pruvit’s Keto OS, Keto MAX and Keto NAT formulas are all a bit different. (What are the effects of BHB? Link to study)

Pruvit’s Keto OS formula uses a racemic blend of ketone salts using both the D+L isomers.

Keto Max uses only the D isomer which is bioidentical to the ketone bodies your liver makes. This is one reason why Keto Max is a stronger formula (roughly 40% stronger than the OS). It has a quicker uptake, quicker spike and is more rapidly absorbed.

What we know at this time is the new Keto NAT formula is more bioavailable than Keto Max so theoretically it should provide a stronger effect i.e. more energy, better appetite control, and better performance.

Keto NAT vs Keto Max

I finally got a chance to try both flavors of Keto NAT! To me, both flavors have the same great taste, but it did give me more energy, more intense focus and I wasn’t as hungry.  I love these benefits!

I’m excited for this “cleaner” formula and can’t wait until Keto NAT Key Limeade comes out!

When Will Keto NAT be for Sale

Keto NAT Raspberry Lemonade and Keto NAT Splash are now mainstay Pruvit flavors!

Max will eventually be phased out to be all Keto NAT formula.

Lazy Keto vs. Strict Keto

Hello, how are you? Welcome if you’re new and welcome back if you’ve been with me for a while. If you’ve been here for a while you might remember a series called the best/worst of something and in that series, I ranked the best and the worst products. I’ve been thinking for a while what series I would like to introduce next and I decided to come up with (not the final name) a lazy series. In this series, I will be bringing you content about different things for people that are pressed for time. Yesterday I posted the first post you can Click Here to read about how to lose weight in a lazy way.

Today I bring you not just a “lazy” post but it is another keto post. This one is a definition between what is lazy keto vs. strict keto? If you want to learn more than please keep on reading.

The definition of Lazy keto varies significantly from person to person and can be confusing for those who are new to the ketogenic lifestyle. With the recent popularity of the ketogenic “diet” along with a ton of misinformation available from social media and websites cashing in on the trend alike, many think lazy keto is what eating ketogenic is all about (trust me it’s not).

The Lazy keto approach is typically not tightly tracking calories or sticking to protein and fat macros but instead keeping your carb intake under 20 grams or less per day.

Why Are The Keto Police Condemning Lazy Keto?

For many, going lazy keto might even include eating whatever they want as long as it fits within their carb count including sugars, bad fats, grain-based fillers and chemical additives in packaged foods.

Now I’m certainly not the Keto police (I actually don’t even agree with the ketogenic “diet”), but I’m sure you would agree that eating bad food doesn’t match up to the ketogenic way of eating for losing weight or dealing with a disease. Continue reading so I can explain why lazy keto or IIFYM (if it fits your macros) may not be the best approach to drop the extra pounds that you’re hanging onto.

Most people new to keto are doing some form of lazy keto or even low-carb disguised as keto, and I understand. Keto is a vast topic and can get pretty scientific when you start to educate yourself. It can be intimidating!

If lazy keto is what you need to change your life and it will allow you to take control of your health then sit back in the recliner and get comfortable. It is a significant lifestyle change, and you may need to ease into a more comprehensive keto diet to see the long-term health benefits or fit into that new dress by your birthday.

Lazy Keto Works But For How Long

It makes sense when you go from eating sugar filled, starchy carbs and fast food to cutting them out of your “diet”, focusing on your health and eating a whole food diet with fewer carbs you are going to see a change in your body for the better.

If you drink soda and eat french fries all day and suddenly stop you are going to drop some weight and probably feel much better no doubt.

I’ve seen lots of people drop massive amounts of weight doing lazy keto and I have seen hundreds quit because their body is different and they don’t see the immediate results they had hoped for from a more laid-back approach.

There are some things to consider if you are thinking about the lazy keto approach or if you’ve been doing lazy keto and have hit a weight loss plateau.

Tracking Keto Macros Sucks

I agree! Tracking everything you eat all day long can be annoying and time-consuming for most of us. After being on keto for some time, I don’t obsess or log everything I eat on a daily basis either.

I suggest those new to keto start by tracking and getting to know not only the carb counts but also the fat, protein and calories you’re consuming each day and how your body reacts to the changes. I think you will be surprised how quickly the totals of the food you eat each day adds up. Once you have a handle on it, then you can relax and not track as often or at all.

The Lazy Keto Approach Often Ignores Other Essential Macros

If you are not balancing your calories, fat and protein consumption along with your carb intake, you are probably missing out on many of the extended health benefits from keto and your ultimate success as time goes on.

Fat Is Crucial To Your Success

Healthy fat is the most significant energy source on the ketogenic diet. When you get the daily fat consumption macro right for your body and goals, it not only helps tremendously to satiate your hunger but it will help curb cravings for traditional carbs. Taming the desires to snack on high carb food will help you stay on track for longer and meet your goals.

I hear all the time from people doing lazy keto “I’m starving in between meals.” as compared to someone who has their fat macro dialed and has become fat adapted saying “I’m not even hungry.”

Protein Is Key To Ketosis and Your Physique

Getting the proper protein is critical for optimal health and also continuing to burn ketones for energy. When ketones aren’t present, the body can break down amino acids from the protein in your muscles via Gluconeogenesis (GNG) by turning protein into glycogen that can be used as glucose for fuel. The downside to Gluconeogenesis (GNG) is that it keeps your body from moving into ketosis.

Even worse if you don’t eat enough protein your body starts breaking down your lean muscle mass for fuel and it can result in damage to your body, your health, and overall performance.

So making sure you are getting the right amount of healthy fat and not over or under consuming protein is vital to your success. Remember Lazy Keto ignores these essential macros almost entirely.

IIFYM Is A Disaster Waiting To Happen

For some “If It Fits Your Macros” (IIFYM) is a form of lazy keto where you eat whatever you want regardless of whats in it as long as you’re under 20-25 grams of carbs each day.

RANT WARNING!!!! IIFYM is a pet peeve of mine so forgive the rant that’s about to ensue.

The web and social media groups are filled with people sharing low-carb desserts, sugar-free candy and prepackaged foods filled with crap calling it keto. In my opinion, encouraging one another to indulge in low-carb replacements for the foods like brownies and ice cream that frankly got people unhealthy and overweight in the first place is a misstep.

Do you think that’s a recipe for long-term success? Of course not. Keto is all about healthy whole food, removing processed foods, sugar and consuming food that is good for us.

If you fill your daily carb intake with desert replacements and packaged foods, you may be hitting your carb goals, but you’re setting yourself up for a fall later by not changing your unhealthy relationship with food from your high carb living past.

Of course, everything in moderation. An occasional keto dessert or a pint of Halo-Top is fine, but don’t overdo it. Remember this is a total lifestyle change, not just a fad diet. You are working on your mental relationship with food as much as the tastes and dependencies you have developed over a lifetime.

Should You Go Lazy Keto or Strict Keto

If you are just getting started, I suggest trying a more informed approach by tracking what you are eating and seeing how you react to the new changes in your diet. You will learn a great deal about your body and the foods you eat.

On the other hand, if you’ve been doing lazy keto for a while and are hitting a stall in your weight loss or want to try and maximize your results why not give a more focused approach a try?

Try it for a few weeks and see what may be causing you to stall. Are you overdoing the fat, overeating or under-eating protein or consuming too many calories? You will know for sure with just a little more effort, and you can adjust as needed. I think you will be surprised by how much impact even small changes can have on your keto success.

Keto Reboot Excel Kit – What is it?

Pruvit’s Keto Reboot Excel kit was first released and available for a limited time in early December. The Keto Reboot Excel contains the standard Keto Reboot 60 Hour Fast plus all the supplements you need to PREBOOT, and OPTIMIZE your progress for 30 days.

The main reason to do the Keto Reboot is to reset your metabolism by reprogramming your genes to run on fat for fuel!

By conquering a 60 hour fast, you engage your body to use fat as an energy source while gradually shifting into Keto Adaptation.

THIS is what we’re all looking for right? To burn that fat off our love handles and middle sections!

Well, you have to sacrifice something to get those stubborn areas burning – and forgoing food for 60 hours utilizing the Keto Reboot kit has become a very popular way to get things moving!

Pruvit Keto Reboot Excel

Why do the Keto Reboot 60 Hour Fast?

If you answer YES to any of these questions, the Keto Reboot 60 Hour Fast is a great program to try!

  • Do you need a jump start with FAT LOSS?
  • Have you hit a plateau?
  • Do you experience hunger and cravings?
  • Are you addicted to sugar?
  • Could you use some help with your next fast or cleanse?

Preboot Before the Keto Reboot!

We love to coin phrases, and “getting your PREBOOT on” is not just a Pruver-ism, but a very wise decision!

Why? Quite simply: KETO ADAPTATION – getting your body used to exogenous ketones and being in a state of ketosis.

By getting started on Pruvit’s products before you jump headfirst into the 60 hour Keto Reboot, you’ll give your body a chance to slowly Keto adapt and complete some shorter intermittent fasting days leading up to the 60 hour fast.

This is why the Keto Reboot Excel kit was created – to help those just getting started to get ready for the reboot, to conquer the reboot, and to continue to optimize your hard-earned results!

If you’re used to eating a high carb/high sugar diet, you may have more unwanted detox side effects (headaches, etc) than you anticipated if you don’t “prime the pump” before completing the reboot.

This is an investment in your health, not a quick fix – there is no such thing when it comes to health. Without priming and optimizing – the only other place to go is back to bad habits. This is true for any long term health strategy.

What’s in the Keto Reboot Excel Package?

Supplements:

Coaching:

  • 2x Hacked Magazines
  • Digital Excel to Optimization Fud Guide ($67)
  • Digital Excel to Optimization Muv Guide ($67
  • Excel to Optimmization Hacks (Exclusive to this kit)
  • 2x Virtual coaching tips per week via email (priceless)
  • Laser Coaching Zooms with Dr. Ryan Lowery ($1,000)

Post 60 Hour Fast – OPTIMIZE

The Keto Reboot Excel program is a great way to complete the Keto Reboot 60 hour fast PLUS continue to optimize your results post reboot for an entire month, and it comes with coaching.

Having the proper guidance and nutritional supplements for fasting and cleansing your body makes it easier and more effective, plain and simple.

When I say “optimize” I don’t mean continue fasting with no food for 30 days! Let me explain…once you’ve prebooted and completed the 60 hour fast, you break your fast and begin to eat again.

However, the goal is to stay in a fat burning state of ketosis, and the supplements provided in the Keto Reboot Excel kit make it easy and enjoyable to do so.

Having a selection of Keto Kreme to make fat coffee, Keto Max for energy and fuel source to crush appetite, and Better Broth as a meal or snack will keep those ketone levels high and KEEP YOU IN KETOSIS.

My Pruvit Journey – Please Read Before you Leave

I’ve been drinking ketones daily for 1 1/2 years and honestly can’t imagine life without them! I’m very passionate about this conversation and enjoy sharing it with others.

For me, drinking ketones daily gives me energy throughout the day without crashing, keeps me fueled and motivated to workout, lifts my mood, and keep my cravings under control ( I use to drink so much diet soda and since drinking ketones and keto kreme even my snacking has been under control).

When I first started, I lost 8 lbs my first few months, settled into a happy weight and I’ve kept it off for the most part. But I’m human, and like everyone else – sometimes I get off track! :-p

This is where the Keto Reboot 60 hour fast is very helpful for me. It gives me that reset that I need to get back to burning that fat for fuel and eliminate belly bloat!

There’s no better time to get started towards a healthy goal.

What Are Ketones and Are They Healthy?

If you are up on your health news or follow anyone in the health field, you have likely heard the term ketogenic diet. The goal of the ketogenic diet is to adapt the body to utilize fat as its primary fuel source instead of sugar. The body does this by first converting fat into what are called ketones that the cells can then burn as fuel. It is at this point that I typically get asked, what are ketones?

Biological Role of Ketones

For our ancestors, eating three meals a day just wasn’t a thing. Instead they would hunt and forage for the foods they could find. When there wasn’t food, they wouldn’t eat.

What this means is that sometimes they would go for days at a time with no food. To sustain life during times of scarcity, the body is thought to have developed the ability to utilize fat as an alternative fuel source.

In a traditional nutrition course, you would learn that sugar is the body’s primary fuel source while fat is a secondary fuel source. When sugar stores are burned up, the cells then convert to burning fat as an energy source.  What we are finding out now is that fat can actually be a healthier and more sustainable source of energy.

Our Society Is Full of Sugar Burners

Modern day, we have an abundance of food that is available to us at all times. Most of us regularly eat three meals a day with intermittent snacking in between.

This kind of frequent eating, along with an overemphasis on carb-rich and sugary foods, causes a reduced ability to burn fat. As these foods damage our bodies on a metabolic level, we actually lose the ability to produce ketones.

This type of reliance on sugar creates massive blood sugar spikes, inflammation, hormone imbalance, and ultimately many of the chronic diseases that plague our society today.  Luckily, by adopting a more ketogenic style of eating, we can reverse this damage and revert back to the efficient fat-burning machines we were meant to be!

The Advantage of Ketones

The energy currency of the body comes in the form of Adenosine Triphosphate (ATP). The mitochondria within every cell in the body either metabolize glucose or ketones to form this important energy molecule.

Based on what we understand of cellular energy metabolism, ketones are able to create much greater amounts of energy per molecule than glucose.   This means when the body begins to convert fat into ketones, you actually have a much more stable and sustainable energy source.

At the same time, burning fat does not create the same insulin and blood sugar response that burning sugar does. This is part of the profound benefits of being in ketosis including, improved hormone balance, lowered inflammation, and improved brain health.

Likewise, many people report feeling much more stable when they go into ketosis. Feeling less hungry, gaining control over cravings, and often experiencing a much more stable emotional state.

How The Body Gets Into Ketosis

As I mentioned already, the body will either burn sugar or fat for energy. Sugar is converted into glucose while fats are converted into ketones by the liver.  When blood sugar drops and glycogen stores are burned up, the body begins to convert fat into ketones for energy.

As we continue to learn more about the benefits of ketones, people are intentionally putting themselves into this state for therapeutic benefits as well as a heightened state of mental performance.

There are several ways to promote an increase in ketone bodies, as mentioned below. The general strategy is to supply the body with ample fats while depleting blood glucose to signal the metabolic shift towards fat-burning.

Types Of Ketones

Unlike the simple conversion of sugar into glucose, fatty acid metabolism actually results in 3 different types of ketones:

Acetate (Acetone)

Acetoacetate (AcAc)

Beta Hydroxybutyrate (BHB)

BHB, based on its molecular structure, is not really a ketone. Yet its presence is part of the beneficial effects of being in ketosis. Among its benefits is the ability to modulate BDNF in the brain and stimulate the growth of new neural tissue exercise.

AcAc is the primary ketone body and is either converted into energy or BHB.  Acetone exhibits the least metabolic effect and is mostly broken down and excreted through the breath and urine.  The acetone excreted through the breath is actually responsible for the “keto breath” that some people experience in the beginning stages of keto-adaptation.

Measuring Your Ketone Levels

When the body produces ketones, some are used for energy while the rest are circulated or excreted. Because of this, ketones are measurable in the blood, the saliva, and the breath.

Different ketones are measurable as follows:

BHB: In the blood

Acetone: In the breath

AcAc: In the urine

Although ketones can be measured in different ways, not all of them are quite an accurate representation of the body’s true ketogenic state. This is why most experts rely on the measurement of BHB through the blood as the ideal method.

Although this sounds invasive, new technology has actually made performing ketone measurements at home fairly simple and cheap.

 Blood Measurement

As I said already, blood measurement for BHB is considered the most accurate depiction of the ketogenic state. This is performed in a similar fashion to blood sugar testing.

Many of the blood glucose monitors on the market also have the ability to read blood ketones. Using a different type of testing strip, all you have to do is prick your finger, collect a small sample of blood, and place it into the monitor for a quick ketone measurement.

The monitor I usually recommend is this Precision Xtra monitor.

The ranges you are looking for here are as follows:

Very Low Ketone Levels:  Less than 0.5 mmol/L

Mild Ketosis:  0.6-1.5 mmol/L

Optimal Ketosis:  1.6-3.0 mmol/L

Very High Ketone Levels:  Greater than 3.0 mmol/L

Although mild ketosis can be achieved rather quickly, it can take up to 2-3 weeks to enter an optimized ketogenic state. The only downside with blood ketone measurement is that the testing strips generally run for about $4 per strip. To perform daily ketone measurements using this method you would be looking at around $120 per month on just testing strips!

 Breath Measurement

For a ketone measurement that doesn’t require a blood draw or the recurring expense of test strips, breath ketones are also a reliable measurement (Breath Acetone).

Using a device such as this Ketonix breath analyzer, you can perform a simple ketone measurement anytime you need.  Although this device will run you for about $190, over time it will likely be a more economical option compared to blood testing since it is only a one-time fee.

It is important to note that while breath ketone measurement is mostly reliable, factors such as alcohol and water consumption may influence your measurements. Luckily you can take multiple measurements throughout the day to get a better idea of your average ketone levels.

Using the Ketonix breath ketones measurement, the device will light up different colors depending on your state of ketosis. Based on the chart below you would want to be in the yellow or red zone for optimal nutritional ketosis.

 Urine Measurement

The body releases unused acetoacetate through the urine upon which it can then be measured using special testing strips. This is a simple option that is also very cost effective at about $10 per 100 strips.

Although simple and cheap, urine measurement of ketones can be somewhat unreliable. This measurement will allow you to see if your body is producing ketones, it doesn’t necessarily provide any insight into how well your body is utilizing ketones for energy.

Additionally, urine ketone measurements can vary significantly depending on the individual’s hydration levels. For example, dehydration will make ketone levels appear higher, while overhydration will make them appear lower.

During the beginning phases of keto-adaptation, the body has a poor ability to utilize ketones as energy. Even if the body is producing ketones, most of them will be excreted. Once the body becomes keto-adapted, higher amounts of ketones are used as energy and less are excreted naturally.

So if you were to choose urine measurement for ketone analysis, I would recommend measuring daily from the very beginning of your eating plan. You should notice an initial increase in ketones into the high range followed by a gradual decrease as you become keto-adapted.

Although your ketones will be high, you will actually be hypoglycemic until your body learns to utilize ketones effectively. As you become keto-adapted you should look for a drop in urine ketone levels between 2-3 weeks of eating a ketogenic style diet.

This drop in urine ketone levels lets you know that your body is becoming more efficient at actually using them for energy.

 Ketoacidosis

The state of nutritional ketosis is sometimes confused with a state referred to as ketoacidosis. Ketoacidosis is an extreme ketotic state that occurs mostly in diabetes populations. When an individual is unable to produce insulin, sugar cannot get into the cells. As a response, the body drastically upregulates ketone production.

In this state, there is both an extremely elevated blood sugar and blood ketone level simultaneously (4). This will cause the overall pH of the body to drop to a dangerously acidic level which can be fatal.  While this condition can be harmful for the individual, it is important to note that entering this state is actually very rare.

To put this into perspective, this condition mainly occurs in unmanaged diabetics. In this state, ketone levels will reach 20 mmol/L and beyond. An otherwise healthy individual could water fast for 20 days and still maintain a ketone concentration below 20 mmol/L.

In other words, unless you are diabetic, reaching a state of ketoacidosis through diet alone is virtually impossible.

My Thoughts

Ketones are the body’s alternative fuel source to sugar. Derived from fatty acids, they provide a much more long-lasting and stable production of energy. In addition to providing stable energy, ketones also do not promote the inflammatory rise and fall of insulin as does sugar.

Modern dietary habits have altered our metabolism and made sugar our primary fuel source. By following a ketogenic style of eating, it is possible to reverse these metabolic defects and take advantage of the benefits that ketones have to offer for our brains and bodies!

If you’ve been with me for a while (at least a year) You would remember I did a 60hr fast and I tracked my progress (kinda).

In this Keto Reboot review, I’m going to tell you all about my experience so you can educate yourself and decide if it’s right for you. If you’d like to learn more about incorporating Ketones into your daily life. I’ve been drinking them 1 1/2 years.

Keto Reboot Review

When is the Next Keto Reboot?

Pruvit hosts the Keto Reboot on a monthly basis, and the next group start is February 10th, 2019. If you want to join the next reboot you have to wait 13 days for them to go on sale ( they usually sell out fast and you can only get the reboot kit right before the next reboot starts). And when they do go on sale they sell out fast. You can Click Here to get your reboot kit.

Keto Reboot Kit – What’s in it and what is the Goal?

Pruvit’s Keto Reboot is a kit that sells for $79 made up of various exogenous ketone powders you mix with water to make drinks or teas. This is a 60 hour “fast” or “cleanse” and all you need to complete the reboot is in the kit.

The goal of this 60 Hour Keto Kleanse is to reboot your system back to its “N8tive” state and get your metabolism reset and fired up! Whether you want more energy, to get in shape, eat a healthier “diet”, or simply want to feel better, the reboot will give you the optimal reset you need to get on track.

The Keto Reboot and Optimization post reboot is designed to keep your fat burning potential at its peak! There are no artificial colors or sweeteners in Pruvit products, and everything in the Keto Reboot kit is gluten-free, sugar-free and dairy free. The only product that’s not vegan is the Better Broths (bone broths).

What’s in the Keto Reboot Kit?

  • 2 Raspberry Lemonade Keto Max Charged
  • 2 Raspberry Lemonade Keto Max Decaf
  • 2 Caramel Apple Keto Kalm Teas
  • 1 Chocolate Keto Kalm Tea
  • 2 Better Broth Thyme flavor
  • 2 Better Broth Salted Caramel
  • 10 Signal-OS capsules (DNA repair)

What else do you need to complete the Keto Reboot?

  • Water, and lots of it. Pruvit recommends 1 gallon a day during the reboot
  • And of course your desire and commitment to better health!
  • My opinion is that you should have some Ketones on hand post reboot to optimize (optional)
  • If you made it this far I know you must be curious about getting rid of the bloat and some excess weight? Why not click this link to start on the road to better health.

Who Would Benefit from the Keto Reboot?

Anyone, male or female of any age, would benefit from this metabolic reset, so long as your at least 18 years of age and not pregnant or nursing.

Many people have asked me, why would you not want to eat for 60 hours? Are you nuts? Not nuts, but I’m into health and wellness, and I’ve done plenty of different fasts before and I know they are of great benefit to your health.

When you have a virus on your computer, what do you do? Reboot it right? Well, your body is the same, and it’s the most important computer you own!

The Keto Reboot was the easiest, and most effective cleanse I’ve ever done! And that is why It’s the only one I continue to do!

Keto Reboot Schedule

Keto Reboot products

The schedule and timing of drinking your Keto Kalm Tea, Keto Max, Keto Broth and Signal-OS is easy.

You can also adjust it to your schedule no problem! I happen to be on a very late schedule so I pushed everything back three hours.

It always starts on a Sunday night and ends on a Wednesday morning when you wake up to break your fast. People often ask me why it starts on a Sunday night and the reason is compliance. Generally, people cheat on the weekends.

Keto Reboot Instructions

Keto Reboot Day 1 – Sunday Night

Keto Reboot keto kalm tea

The Keto Reboot always kicks off on a Sunday night and that’s when you drink your first Chocolate Keto Kalm Tea, easy peasy.

Keto Kalm Tea contains ketones (BHB), magnesium, L-theonine, and other ingredients to help you relax and promote restful sleep.

It tastes really good and is sweetened with Stevia. Think hot chocolate more than a tea…it’s a powder you mix with warm water.

The Signal-OS is packed full of AC-11 for DNA repair and high levels of Vitamin B.

Note: they’ve optimized the reboot instructions so you don’t take the Signal OS your first night anymore, rather the morning you break your fast.

It’s best to eat a light meal Sunday night. Don’t go binging on pizza and cookies before fasting, instead eat a sensible meal, preferably one lower in carbs.

Get a good night’s rest Sunday night, as Monday will be your first full day without food.

Don’t panic at the thought of this…ketones are a fuel source and provide energy. They are also filling and suppress your appetite. This is why you feel so good during the reboot!

Keto Reboot Day 2 – Monday

Keto Reboot schedule

When Monday arrives, you wake up and drink a Raspberry Lemonade Keto Max which tastes just like a country lemonade.

Making it is simple, you just add 12-16 oz of water and ice and shake, shake, shake!

Keto Max flavors are a mainstay of Pruvit’s line up, and the only ketones on the market bioidentical to the ketones your liver makes naturally. I drink Keto Max on a daily basis and it comes in many flavors.

If you have other Keto Max flavors on hand, or Keto Amped  (not a pruvit product I got mine through Amazon).you can drink any of these in place of the Raspberry lemonade if you prefer! I drank the Keto Max Heart Tart to switch things up!

A couple of hours after drinking your Keto Max, you take your Signal-OS capsules. During my experience during the reboot, some people preferred taking their Signal-OS with the broth, which is perfectly fine.

Lunchtime consists of Keto Thyme Better Broth which contains 7 grams of protein (it’s real bone broth with ketones). I’ll be honest it’s good when made into a slush. I took ice cubes and blended the bone broth and ice cubes together and made it into a slush.

Afternoon you drink a decaf Raspberry Lemonade and then dinner is the Better Broth Salted Caramel, which tastes just like caramel popcorn!

While I drank my Better Broth Salted Caramel with warm water as directed (not boiling), some people really enjoyed drinking it cold with ice. It doesn’t make a difference. It’s on the sweet side so diluting with more water is fine to suit your taste.

I also had no problem taking my Signal-OS separate from the broth, I followed the Keto Reboot instructions to a “T.”

Your last drink of the day on Day 2 is the Keto Kalm Tea Caramel Apple flavor, which is a bit sweet for my liking but easily drinkable.

Pruvit does a great job with their flavors but remember, ketone salts are just that…BHB salts (beta-hydroxybutyrate)…. so masking the salts is necessary. If you don’t like the taste, suck it up and know it’s all worth it!!

Don’t forget – drink LOTS of water during your reboot! It’s very important. You’re detoxing and you need to give the toxins a way out, or you could wind up with headaches or other unwanted side effects.

If you do get a headache, up your water intake and add a pinch of Himalayan salt to increase your electrolytes.

Keto Reboot Day 2 – How I Felt

I am used to intermittent fasting….every day I start my day with coffee and Pruvit’s MCT//143 oil and then drink Keto Max a couple hours later. I usually don’t eat my first meal until about 2:00pm. So how did I feel on Day 2? Pretty awesome! I wasn’t hungry at all.

They recommend depleting your glycogen stores on Day 2 to shift your body into ketosis more quickly. This isn’t the day to break any personal records at the gym, just doing a light workout is good, just do something! If you don’t feel up to working out It is okay to skip the gym. Remember you aren’t intaking that many calories.

It was also the evening of Day 2 that I starting really detoxing and making frequent trips to the bathroom. Yes, you’re gonna poop…this is a CLEANSE. You’re emptying the tank! I think I went about 6x.

It’s not a big deal and it’s not uncontrollable. You feel it coming on and you go to the bathroom. Some people are hesitant to do this while they’re at work but don’t be! You’ll be fine.

Some people didn’t have this happen until day 2, or even day 3. I guess it depends how backed up you are and how regular you are normally.

I think for some people, day 2 may be the hardest, especially if you’ve never done a cleanse before. So if you can just get through day 2, you’ll be fine come day 3.

By Day 3, you’ll be burning your love handles for fuel and you will feel a metabolic “shift.” You will be in a deep state of ketosis!

Keto Reboot Day 3 – Tuesday

Keto Reboot review

Day 3 of the Keto Reboot is your second full day of not eating, and is a repeat of Day 2’s schedule so I won’t rehash it, but I will tell you how I felt as I was using my own fat for fuel!

Keto Reboot Day 3 – How I Felt

I wasn’t hungry at all by day 3. By this time, you’re in a deep state of ketosis and you’re body is tapping into its fat stores for fuel.  This is what they mean by a “metabolic shift.”

I did go on a walk, but only lapped my block in case I needed to go to the bathroom, which I didn’t until later that night. For me, it was always the dinner time broth that kicked that part in. Everyone’s different.

I didn’t experience ANY hunger “pangs” or pains.

But the ketones in all the products really do keep you feeling full and your hunger suppressed. Once you do start to feel a little hunger, it’s time for your next drink.

Even though I wasn’t feeling physically hungry, come evening time there was the thought of food…and being so accustomed to eating at certain times.

This is also why the reboot can really help break bad habits when it comes to food and snacking! Fasting is very empowering!

Testing your Ketone Levels

Post reboot I tested my ketone levels on a Keto strip and it was super dark! By this point, my liver was breaking down fat into ketone bodies and being used for energy!

By the way, don’t get too hung on peeing on stuff, blood ketone tests are far more accurate than urine strips but they’ll give you an idea.

The Keto Mojo is a good one if you’re looking for a blood ketone/glucose meter and they offer free shipping.

Keto Reboot – Breaking the Fast

When my 60-hour reboot was complete, I woke up and I wasn’t hungry at all, but I felt a little weak so I knew I was ready to eat something. I actually went about 65 hours before breaking my fast.

It’s recommended you break your fast with some bone broth (any brand) and some scrambled eggs. I just opted for a couple scrambled eggs in butter.

Eat light the remainder of this day…. your digestion has been resting, your stomach shrank, and you won’t feel as hungry.

Keto Reboot Results – Reboot #1

So let’s face it, some of you will want to do this fast to kick start your fat loss! Who are we kidding? My main goal of the reboot was for ABS. I did lose 5 lbs and my stomach was FLAT and I felt amazing! I said goodbye to all the bloat and I had crazy amounts of natural energy.

Sidenote: Results may vary. Not everyone will have the same results as me or maybe someone you may know.

It completely reset my diet and I went on to eat a more strict vegetarian diet easily in following weeks. When you accomplish something so huge, you really think twice about putting something naughty in your mouth.

Food tastes so good after fasting that you have a much greater appreciation for healthy, nutritious foods!

One huge thing I noticed was how my gut improved…without TMI, let’s just say I’m very regular now and everything looks good!

Post Reboot Optimization

Optimizing post reboot is so important! If you want to stay in this fat burning state of ketosis, you can do that by continuing to drink ketones daily and following a lower carb “diet”.

Don’t just do the reboot and then get upset if you start eating bad and the weight creeps back on – you have to keep at it and the Reboot is a great JUMP START.  Old habits, “diet” hard, and continuing to drink your ketones daily is KEY!

And if you’re brand new to ketones –  heed my advice to Keto adapt a little BEFORE the reboot. Even that just means drinking one Keto Max per day for a week prior or maybe have some fat coffee using Keto Kreme and doing some shorter intermittent fasting day.

Keto Reboot Results – Reboot #2

I did my second Keto Reboot in May and I lasted the whole 60 hrs. I had so MUCH energy! It felt good to rely on just ketones and not ketones and coffee for those days I needed a HUGE pick-me-up.

Buyers Guide Information

I know you were looking for what are the best options, but here is some more detail as to why we might need good low carb coffee creamer products and brands to help us easily get a creamy tasting coffee without a load of sugary carbs.

Does Coffee Creamer Make You Gain Weight

Regular coffee creamer is a non-dairy creamer that usually contains high amounts of sugar to add to the taste. It usually has more sugar but less fat than half-and-half, and also may contain many unnatural additives. For those on a ketogenic diet, or just following a balanced “diet”, coffee creamer is not the best choice. One serving of coffee creamer can contain over a teaspoon of sugar. It will be difficult to remain in ketosis or lose weight if you start your day off with a splash or two of regular creamer in your coffee.

Can You Have Half-and-Half on Keto

Half-and-half is a slightly better option. It is made by mixing heavy cream with whole milk, resulting in a creamy but reduced fat choice. It only has about 20 calories per serving, 10-18% of which is fat. While half-and-half may be a wiser option than regular coffee creamer, it still contains lactose or milk sugar. Butter or low carb coffee creamers are overall the best choices for those wishing to lose weight through ketosis.

Benefits of Using a Low Carb (Keto) Coffee Creamer

~Avoiding the taste of butter or coconut oil

~Feeling satiated and alert for hours after consumption without needing to eat

~Avoiding the sugar and carbs of regular coffee creamers or milk-based creamers

~Enjoying a variety of healthy flavors

Some people are okay with using straight butter or coconut oil in their coffee, but not everybody can deal with the taste. That is the main reason people choose to use specially made low carb coffee creamers. (lowcarbyum)

Is Keto Coffee Creamer Bad for You

The short answer is probably not. The long answer depends on what creamer you are using. It’s always best to stick with the most natural form of food—which is why, technically, using straight butter or coconut oil is the healthiest choice. But what is not healthy is to force down something you hate the taste of. You have to enjoy your morning coffee—otherwise, what’s the point? That’s where low carb creamers come in. If you choose one that is processed with additives and artificial ingredients, then, of course, it’s bad for you. Instead, stick with whole food-based creamers with only a handful of ingredients.

And, Avoid These Other Ingredients

(If Possible)

Thickening agents

Preservatives

Artificial sweeteners and flavors

Added sugar

Hydrogenated oils

Keto “Friendly” Ways To Get Electrolytes

Today I will be talking about some Keto “Friendly” ways to replenish electrolytes. I use quotations because based on my research I found these

The popularity of the ketogenic “diet” continues to grow so does interest in how to optimize health while following this high-fat, low-carb eating plan.

Because the keto “diet” cuts out a number of food options, it’s a good idea to supplement with specific nutrients.

Not to mention, some supplements can help dieters reduce adverse effects of the keto flu and even enhance athletic performance when training on a low-carb diet.

The best supplements to take

Magnesium

Magnesium is a mineral that boosts energy, regulates blood sugar levels and supports your immune system (1).

Research suggests that due to magnesium-depleting medications, reliance on processed foods and other factors, a good portion of the population has or is at risk of developing a magnesium deficiency (2). On a ketogenic diet, it may be even more difficult to meet your magnesium needs, as many magnesium-rich foods like beans and fruits are also high in carbs.

For these reasons, taking 200–400 mg of magnesium per day may be beneficial if you’re on a keto diet. Supplementing with magnesium can help reduce muscle cramps, difficulty sleeping, and irritability — all symptoms commonly experienced by those transitioning to a ketogenic diet (345).

Some of the most absorbable forms of magnesium include magnesium glycinate, magnesium gluconate, and magnesium citrate.

If you wish to increase your magnesium intake through keto-friendly foods, focus on incorporating these low-carb, magnesium-rich options:

Spinach~ Avocado `Swiss chard~ Pumpkin seeds~ Mackerel

Those following a ketogenic “diet” may be at a higher risk of developing a magnesium deficiency. Taking a magnesium supplement or eating more low-carb, magnesium-rich foods can help you meet your daily requirements.

MCT Oil Medium-chain triglycerides, or MCTs, are a popular supplement among keto dieters.

They’re metabolized differently than long-chain triglycerides, the most common type of fat found in food.

MCTs are broken down by your liver and quickly enter your bloodstream where they can be used as a fuel source for your brain and muscles.

Coconut oil is one of the richest natural sources of MCTs, with about 17% of its fatty acids being in the form of MCTs with potential metabolic benefits (6).

However, taking MCT oil (made by isolating MCTs from coconut or palm oil) provides an even more concentrated dose of MCTs and can be helpful for those following a ketogenic diet.

Supplementing with MCT oil can help keto dieters since it can quickly up your fat intake, which increases ketone levels and helps you stay in ketosis (7).

It has also been shown to promote weight loss and increase feelings of fullness, which can be helpful for those using the ketogenic diet as a weight loss tool (8).

MCT oil can be easily added to shakes and smoothies or simply taken by the spoonful for a quick fat boost.

It’s a good idea to start with a small dose (1 teaspoon or 5 ml) of MCT oil to see how your body reacts before increasing to the suggested dosage listed on the supplement bottle.

MCT oil can cause symptoms like diarrhea and nausea in some people.

MCT oil is a type of rapidly digested fat that can be used to help ketogenic dieters boost fat intake and stay in ketosis.

Omega-3 fatty acid supplements, such as fish or krill oil, are rich in the omega-3 fatty acids eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), which benefit health in many ways.

EPA and DHA have been found to reduce inflammation, lower heart disease risk and prevent mental decline (9).

Western diets tend to be higher in omega-6 fatty acids (found in foods like vegetable oils and processed foods) and lower in omega-3s (found in fatty fish).

This imbalance can promote inflammation in the body and has been linked to an increase in many inflammatory diseases (10).

Omega-3 supplements can be particularly beneficial for people on ketogenic diets, as they can help maintain a healthy omega-3 to omega-6 ratio when following a high-fat diet.

What’s more, omega-3 supplements can maximize the ketogenic diet’s impact on overall health.

One study showed that people following a ketogenic diet who supplemented with omega-3 fatty acids from krill oil experienced greater decreases in triglycerides, insulin and inflammatory markers than those who did not (11).

When shopping for omega-3 supplements, choose a reputable brand that provides at least a combined 500 mg of EPA and DHA per 1,000 mg serving.

Those on blood-thinning medications should consult a doctor before taking omega-3 supplements, as they can increase your risk of bleeding by further thinning your blood (12).

To boost your intake of omega-3 fatty acids through keto-friendly foods, eat more salmon, sardines and anchovies.

Omega-3 fatty acid supplements can reduce inflammation, lower heart disease risk factors and help ensure a healthy balance of omega-3s to omega-6s.

 Vitamin D

Having optimal levels of vitamin D is important for everyone’s health, including people following ketogenic diets.

The keto diet doesn’t necessarily put you at a higher risk of developing a vitamin D deficiency, but since vitamin D deficiency is common in general, supplementing with this vitamin is a good idea (13).

Vitamin D is important for many bodily functions, including facilitating the absorption of calcium, a nutrient that could be lacking on a ketogenic diet, especially in those who are lactose intolerant (14).

Vitamin D is also responsible for supporting your immune system, regulating cellular growth, promoting bone health and lowering inflammation in your body (15).

Since few foods are good sources of this important vitamin, many health professionals recommend vitamin D supplements to ensure proper intake.

Your doctor can run a blood test to determine if you’re deficient in vitamin D and help prescribe a proper dosage based on your needs.

Since vitamin D deficiency is common, it may be a good idea for people following the ketogenic diet to get their vitamin D levels checked and supplement accordingly.

 Digestive Enzymes

One of the main complaints of those new to the ketogenic diet is that the high-fat content of this eating pattern is tough on their digestive system.

Since the keto diet may consist of up to 75% fat, those used to consuming diets lower in fat can experience unpleasant gastrointestinal symptoms like nausea and diarrhea.

In addition, though the ketogenic diet is only moderate in protein, it may still be a higher amount than some people are used to, which can also cause digestive side effects.

If you’re experiencing digestive issues like nausea, diarrhea and bloating when transitioning to a ketogenic diet, a digestive enzyme blend that contains enzymes that break down fats (lipases) and proteins (proteases) may help optimize digestion.

What’s more, proteolytic enzymes, which are enzymes that help break down and digest protein, have been shown to reduce post-workout soreness, which can be a bonus for workout enthusiasts on a keto diet (1617).

Taking a digestive supplement that contains both protease and lipase enzymes, which break down protein and fat respectively, may help relieve digestive symptoms related to transitioning to a keto diet.

 Exogenous Ketones

Exogenous ketones are ketones supplied through an external source, while endogenous ketones are the type produced naturally by your body through a process called ketogenesis.

Exogenous ketone supplements are commonly used by those following a ketogenic diet to increase blood ketone levels.

Aside from potentially helping you reach ketosis quicker, exogenous ketone supplements have been linked to other benefits as well.

For example, they have been shown to boost athletic performance, speed muscle recovery and decrease appetite (1819).

However, research on exogenous ketones is limited, and many experts argue that these supplements aren’t necessary for keto dieters.

Additionally, most of the studies on exogenous ketones used a more powerful type of exogenous ketones called ketone esters, not ketone salts, which is the most common form found in supplements available to consumers.

While some people may find these supplements helpful, more research is needed to establish their potential benefits and risks.

Exogenous ketones may help raise ketone levels, decrease appetite and increase athletic performance. However, more research is needed to establish the effectiveness of these supplements.

 Greens Powder

Vegetables contain a wide variety of vitamins, minerals and powerful plant compounds that can fight inflammation, lower disease risk and help your body function at optimal levels.

Though not everyone following a keto diet is necessarily lacking in their vegetable intake, this eating plan does make it more difficult to consume enough plant foods.

A quick and easy way to boost your vegetable intake is by adding a greens powder to your supplement regimen.

Most greens powders contain a mixture of powdered plants like spinach, spirulina, chlorella, kale, broccoli, wheatgrass and more.

Greens powders can be added to drinks, shakes, and smoothies, making them a convenient way to increase your intake of healthy produce.

Those following ketogenic diets can also focus on adding more whole-food, low-carb vegetables to their meals and snacks.

While it shouldn’t be used as a replacement for fresh produce, a well-balanced greens powder is an excellent and easy way for keto dieters to add a nutrient boost to their meal plan.

Greens powders contain powdered forms of healthy plants like spinach, spirulina, and kale. They can provide a convenient source of nutrients to those following ketogenic diets.

 Electrolyte Supplements or Mineral-Rich Foods

Focusing on adding minerals through diet is important for people following a ketogenic diet, especially when first switching to this way of eating.

The first weeks can be challenging as the body adapts to the very low number of carbs consumed.

Levels of sodium, potassium, and magnesium can drop as well, leading to symptoms of the keto flu, such as headaches, muscle cramps and fatigue (20).

Additionally, athletes following a keto diet may experience even greater fluid and electrolyte losses through sweating (21).

Adding sodium through “diet” is the best strategy. Simply salting foods or sipping on a broth made with bouillon cubes should cover most people’s increased sodium needs.

Increasing your intake of potassium- and magnesium-rich foods can counteract losses of these important minerals, too.

Dark leafy greens, nuts, avocados, and seeds are all keto-friendly foods that are high in both magnesium and potassium.

Electrolyte supplements containing sodium, potassium, and magnesium are available as well.

People following a ketogenic “diet” should focus on increasing their consumption of sodium, potassium, and magnesium to prevent unpleasant symptoms like a headache, muscle cramps, and fatigue.

Supplements to Boost Athletic Performance

Creatine monohydrate: Creatine monohydrate is an extensively researched dietary supplement that has been shown to promote muscle gain, improve exercise performance and increase strength (2223).

~Caffeine: An extra cup of Coffee or green tea can benefit athletic performance and boost energy levels, especially in athletes transitioning to a keto “diet” (24).

~Branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs): Branched-chain amino acid supplements have been found to reduce exercise-related muscle damage, muscle soreness and fatigue during exercise (252627).

~HMB (beta-hydroxy beta-methylbutyrate): HMB may help decrease muscle loss and increase muscle mass, especially in those who are just beginning an exercise program or increasing the intensity of their workouts (2829).

~Beta-alanine: Supplementing with the amino acid beta-alanine may help prevent fatigue and muscle burnout when following a ketogenic “diet” (3031).

Vital Proteins’ Collagen Peptides

If you’re into the keto diet, looking for a way to build muscle, or simply just want to lose some weight, the supplementation of collagen peptides could do wonders to help you achieve your goals.

Collagen has been one of the most raved about structural proteins in recent times when it comes to skincare, beauty, health, and performance. But, with the sales pitches coming from almost every angle, it’s hard to know what’s true and what’s not.

What Is Collagen and Why You Need It

Put simply, collagen accounts for approximately a third of your body’s protein composition. It plays an important role in the formation of your skin, bones, muscle, tendons, and ligaments and is found in your cornea, blood vessels, and teeth. It has so many scientifically proven health benefits which you can read more here.

In plain English, it’s the glue that holds everything together. It’s also why the word collagen derives from the Greek word “kólla” which means glue.

Those who are looking to build muscle or to increase mass and strength, a 2015 study showed that consuming collagen peptides while doing strength training increased muscle mass and strength .

For beauty purposes, consumption of collagen supplements helps improve skin elasticity, appearance, and minimize lines and wrinkles. Not only does it promote more youthful skin, but collagen also enhances the strength of your hair particles as well as your nails and joints (2)

For weight loss purpose, collagen also helps you reach your goals by helping you feel fuller for longer when compared to whey, soy, and even casein (4).

For keto “diet” enthusiasts, collagen peptides work very well when combined with the keto diet as it has a very low amount of calories and carbs.

For example, Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides (Unflavored) only has 70 calories for each serving (two scoops). So if you are looking for low carb protein powder to make your keto-friendly protein shakes, collagen powder is an excellent choice.

The Difference Between Collagen Protein and Other Types of Protein

The main difference between collagen and other proteins is the amino acid profile. Collagen has more essential amino acids such as alanine, arginine, proline, and hydroxyproline that make collagen unique in terms of how they benefit parts of your body such as hair, nail, ligaments, joints, tendons, skin, and digestion.

Vital Proteins’ Collagen Peptides

With so many collagen protein options to choose from, it’s common sense to pose the question of why you should choose Vital Proteins over other brands. What makes it one of the best collagen supplements out there?

In short, Vital Proteins’ collagen is grass-fed, pasture-raised, gluten-free, dairy-free and non-GMO. It’s Kosher and Whole 30 approved as well as being keto friendly.

It is unflavored and versatile so basically, you can use in any drink, dish and recipes that you wish to without destroying its taste and flavor. Another bonus is that this collagen is super soluble and easy to mix in both hot and cold liquids.

Many women in the keto community love this product and they use it every day and notice incredible results with their hair, nail, and skin. They experience healthier hair with less breakage and split ends.

If you are experiencing hair loss on a low carb ketogenic “diet”, maybe it’s not because of the diet itself, but could be due to many factors. One of the factors could be because your body is craving collagen. As we mentioned earlier, collagen makes up almost 30% of the protein content in our bodies. If you don’t consume enough of it, you might experience skin, hair and nails issues.

Check Current Price

Based on our experience coupled with facts gathered from the manufacturer themselves and the reviews from the health and fitness community, here’s a list of Pros and Cons of going with Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides.

The Pros

 Grass-Fed Cows

Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides “are sourced from grass-fed, pasture-raised bovine hides”. I’d like to draw emphasis to the fact that the cows are grass-fed which always triumphs over grain-fed cows based. Grass-fed beef contains more cancer-fighting antioxidants and is also higher in Vitamin A and E (5).

To put it simply, grass-fed cows contain up to five times more omega-3 fatty acids than grain-fed cows which is the key to reducing inflammation and aids in lowering the risks of chronic diseases. Omega-3 fatty acids are also critical in improving cognitive and behavioral function which impacts your overall well-being and physical abilities (678).

The fact that Vital Proteins’ Collagen is derived from grass-fed cows definitely wins a thumbs up from us in that arena.

 Bioavailability

If you don’t know what bioavailability means, it’s essentially the ability for your body to digest and absorb a solution quickly in order to maximize the benefits obtainable from that solution.

Based on my experience, I found it extremely easy to dilute the powder with cold water without leaving any nasty powder clumps in the mixture which goes to show how soluble it is.

The recommended dosage is 1 to 2 scoops of Vital Proteins into 8 ounces of any liquid to be consumed twice a day.

Having gone with the unflavored option, our liquid of choice to mix the powder with is coffee in the morning and a smoothie in the afternoon. The powder dissolved quickly and smoothly and there is no noticeable taste difference in both coffee or smoothie, which is a huge perk.

You can make your milkshake or protein shake by simply adding  1-2 scoops of this to your milk (or milk of choice). If you’re on keto, add 1 scoop of collagen in your coconut milk or almond milk. Optional choices are ice, sweetener, etc…

The unflavored collagen makes it so easy to add it to any other liquids without a noticeable change in flavor. If you like your coffee black, adding this wouldn’t change your coffee’s taste at all.

Free from Gluten, rBGH, GMO, Dairy, and Ractopamine

If you’re looking to lose weight or to build a leaner and more toned figure, gluten is not your best friend. The fact that Vitals Protein is gluten-free makes this supplement highly attractive from all angles be it weight loss or muscle building.

It’s also nice to know that a collagen peptide supplement that derives from bovine hide does not contain artificial hormones that can be damaging to our health!

Contains Arginine and Alanine

If you’re looking to build muscle mass, the fact that this product contains Arginine and Alanine is a huge plus compared to other collagen proteins.

Arginine is critical in protein synthesis which supports the development of muscle mass and acts as a treatment for several health issues such as congestive heart failure, high blood pressure, and erectile dysfunction (9).

Alanine is crucial as an aid to increasing carnosine in your body which acts as a powerful antioxidant. The more alanine in your system, the higher your acid-buffering capacity becomes thus allowing your muscles to push your workouts and training harder due to a slower lactic acid release in your muscles (10).

The Cons

The only downside to Vital Proteins I can think of is it’s a little bit more expensive compared to other collagen products. It is understandable because Vital Proteins use the best quality bovine hide collagen peptides to make their products. If you value quality and the amazing benefits of this product, I think the price isn’t an issue.

Also, if you are a vegan or vegetarian, collagen peptides are not for you unfortunately because they are sourced from grass-fed bovine.

How To Use Collagen:

Stir into hot/cold water or other beverages.

Add to coffee for extra creaminess and frothiness.

Add to smoothies and shakes as a protein booster

Add into any desserts and baking recipes

The Conclusion

If you’re looking for a high-quality collagen peptide supplement, we highly recommend Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides. If you’re like many people, you will notice its benefits when you commit to a consistent intake of the supplement over a period of 6-8 weeks. You will appreciate the results witnessed after. Give it a try today!
