Microwaveable Thanksgiving Sides

If you’re new to my blog hello how are you and welcome back if you’ve been with me for a while. I’ve done a series called the best and worst of something or sometimes I use the word horrible. When I do those type of posts I always link them at the end of those type posts. I realize not everyone may read that far down. So what I am going to do Is I will be posting just the bad and worst of something so that way If you are curious about something you can use that posts as a reference and as I continue the series I will continue to add the new best and worst of posts to that specific post I will keep you all updated as I update It I hope all of this makes sense?

The typical American spends nearly quadruple more time sweating in the kitchen on Thanksgiving compared to a typical weekend day, according to the USDA. Whether it’s Thanksgiving, Hanukkah, or Christmas, I get it: the roasted centerpiece takes long enough. So save time ( I know that you know that I know that you do)—and oven space—by hitting the “easy button” with these showy side dishes that can be cooked completely in your microwave.

I will cover everything from soups and salads to bread and dips, these microwave recipes will make your holidays far less stressful.

Reasons Why You Should Drink Smoothies

Confession: I used to hate smoothies (still do sometimes). Too much prep (sometimes your girl can be lazy). Too much to clean up (Who else hates cleaning the kitchen after smoothie making?) And I like to chew my food, not sip it. But then my sister bought a Vitamix when my old blender bit the dust, and it changed everything. I wanted to get my money’s worth.

It was an interesting experiment. For one, the smoothies replaced those sugary cereals I was eating. No, they weren’t as sweet as Honey Bunches of Oats, but they were rich and filling. I wasn’t hungry at 10:30 in the morning like most people I honestly don’t wake up until afternoon time I’m a night owl at it’s finest where my night owls at? The smoothie recipes were fun to make.

I started making protein shakes with chocolate-flavored pea protein powder for an afternoon snack.  It’s not a Yoo-hoo by any stretch of the imagination, but it’s still delicious and gives you the chocolate taste you crave. You get used to the taste of plant-based protein and quickly learn how to sweeten it up a bit with a frozen banana or vanilla almond milk. With a protein smoothie in the afternoon, I didn’t need a Philly-style pretzel from Wawa or a Cliff Bar to chase the hunger away.

And if you want to lose pounds, drinking smoothies as meal replacements can be a convenient and delicious way to significantly slash processed carbohydrates and the calories that come with them. A study in Current Nutrition & Food Science found that people who replaced breakfast and dinner with a high-protein smoothie lost over 18 pounds in 12 weeks.

Made right, smoothies are full of water, fiber, and protein, all of which promote “satiety,” or feeling full, and can help us avoid overeating and cut calories, according to Penn State researcher Barbara Rolls, PhD, author of The Volumetrics Weight-Control Program.

But smoothies boast a tumbler full of other health benefits beyond weight loss, depending on the ingredients you toss in the blender before the blades start spinning. Try the smoothie recipes below, and see 10 surprising reasons to drink smoothies. Get ready to whip up a delicious shake that’ll do your body good.

Boost Metabolism

Woman with water bottleStudies have shown that adding spicy ingredients like ginger and cayenne pepper to a shake can rev up your calorie-burning metabolism. In one study at Purdue University, people who consumed about a half a teaspoon of cayenne pepper in their food burned about 10 more calories in the hours afterward, compared to people who ate the same meal but without the spice. Researchers call capsaicin, the compound in peppers that makes them hot, a thermogenic chemical that not only heats the body but decreases hunger signals in the brain.

Recipe: Tropical Spice Smoothie
½ cup coconut water
2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
½ ripe avocado
1 scoop vanilla whey protein powder
¼ teaspoon cayenne
2” knob of fresh ginger
1 cup frozen mango.

Makes 2 servings.

Ease Arthritis Pain

Woman with arthritis

Aching from osteoarthritis-related knee pain? Muscles sore after a strength-training workout? Try a smoothie made with tart cherry juice, which has been shown to reduce inflammation and joint pain.

Recipe: Almond Cherry Bomb Smoothie
½ cup frozen bing cherries
½ cup tart cherry juice
1 cup Greek yogurt
2 tablespoons almond butter

Makes 2 servings.

Reduce Alzheimer’s Risk

woman working during daySeveral studies have suggested a possible link between eating blueberries and improved memory and a reduced risk of Alzheimer’s disease. Scientists believe the anthocyanin antioxidants in blueberries may protect neurons, improve brain cell communication, and enhance blood circulation to the brain. This smoothie recipe contains other ingredients (spinach and turmeric) known to support cognitive function, making it a smart choice for boosting brainpower.

Recipe: The Einstein Smoothie
1 cup frozen blueberries
1 cup water
½ cup spinach
½ cup Greek yogurt, plain
1 teaspoon matcha powder
½ teaspoon turmeric
¼ cup coconut milk
ice as needed

Makes 2 servings.

Rebuild Your Gut After Taking Antibiotics

Flat absAntibiotics create a lot of collateral damage at the same time they’re eradicating the bacterium they are prescribed to kill. They destroy much of our helpful gut microbiota, which in turn causes mild diarrhea. But sometimes the widespread reduction in microbiota by antibiotics allows a more harmful bug–Clostridium difficile—to take over. C-diff can cause severe diarrhea and even a life-threatening inflammation of the colon. It’s especially dangerous in the elderly. There’s clinical evidence that repopulating the gut with “good bugs” by taking probiotics could help prevent C-diff in people taking antibiotics. Kefir, used in the good-gut-bug-building smoothie below, is one of the best probiotics (yogurt is another) and perfect for smoothie blends.

Recipe: Gut Punch Smoothie
½ cup plain full-fat kefir
1 cup frozen raspberries, peaches, strawberries
½ tablespoon flaxseeds

Makes 1 serving.

Crush Cravings

Pastry shop

Apple cider vinegar and cinnamon have been shown to stabilize blood sugar and keep cravings for carbs at bay.

Recipe: Cinnamon ‘n’ Cider Smoothie
1/3 cup coconut water
1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
½ cup plain Greek yogurt
½ teaspoon cinnamon
½ apple, chopped
four ice cubes

Makes 2 servings.

Lower Blood Pressure

Woman checking her blood pressureEating foods rich in potassium is a natural way to lower blood pressure because the mineral tempers the effects of sodium on the body and also eases tension on blood vessel walls. Among the best high-potassium ingredients for smoothies are bananas. One study found that eating two bananas a day can drop blood pressure by 10 percent. But before you go ape with bananas, check with your doctor. Potassium can be harmful to people with kidney problems, and it may interact with certain medications. Then try this blood pressure-lowering smoothie, which also contains vitamin C, a powerful antioxidant that neutralizes free radicals and relaxes the walls of your blood vessels.

Recipe: Berries and Banana Smoothie
½ cup almond milk

½ cup strawberries, sliced

½ medium frozen banana

1 kiwi, peeled and chopped

1 teaspoon ground flaxseeds

Makes 2 servings.

Beat Diabetes

DiabetesIf you are worried about prediabetes, this is an ideal breakfast smoothie to replace a bowl of sugary cereal or sweetened yogurt. It tastes like an apple pie, but it keeps blood sugar levels stable with cinnamon, eight grams of fiber, and muscle-building protein. What’s more, it contains EGCG, a catechin from matcha powder that stimulates cells to release fat.

Recipe: Apple Cobbler Smoothie
1 apple, cored and chopped

1 cup kale, deveined

1 cup unsweetened almond milk

1 teaspoon matcha powder

1 scoop plain plant-based protein powder

cinnamon and nutmeg to taste

Makes 1 serving.

Look Younger

Woman looking in mirrorThis smoothie is a dermatologists’ favorite because it’s loaded with beta-carotene, which the body converts to vitamin A. This vitamin protects the skin from UV ray damage, potentially keeping skin supple and youthful-looking. The beta-carotene in The Young Bunny smoothie comes from two ingredients, carrots and apricot. We’ve added honey and cinnamon, which have also been shown to help with skin repair.

Recipe: The Young Bunny Smoothie
½ cup plain full-fat Greek yogurt
½ cup grated carrot
1 dried apricot half, diced
1 fresh apricot, pitted and chopped
1 teaspoon local honey
1 teaspoon cinnamon

Makes 2 servings.

Stay Awake

A smoothie made with chilled coffee or cold-brew coffee, banana, and protein powder will not only give you an energy boost at 10 a.m., but it’ll also keep your belly satisfied until lunchtime.

Recipe: The Cold Snap Smoothie
½ cup coffee, cooled or cold brew coffee
½ cup 2% milk
2 Tbsp natural peanut butter
1 medium frozen banana
1 scoop whey protein powder
4 ice cubes

Makes 2 servings.

Go to Sleep

Sleeping woman

Cherries and tart cherry juice are concentrated sources of melatonin, a popular natural sleep aid. Try this simple concoction as a late evening snack, and you’ll drift off easily.

Recipe: The Snoozie Smoothie
¾ cup tart cherry juice
1 cup vanilla Greek yogurt
4 ice cubes

Makes 2 servings.

Bulletproof Coffee (Vegan,GF & Keto)

Today I bring you something cool. Bulletproof coffee. If you have been living under a rock then you already know that Bulletproof coffee has taken America by storm. Bulletproof coffee promises to Increase energy, help digestion, suppress appetite, and even help with metabolism. Bulletproof coffee started out In the Paleo community or even those who aren’t full Paleo or even Paleo at all.

What Is Bulletproof Coffee?

If you are unfamiliar with what bulletproof coffee Is I’m going to explain to you what It Is. It’s described as a clean way of drinking coffee without all the sugar and cream. Bulletproof Coffee Is non-toxic, pesticide-free, and herbicide free ( herbicide a substance that is toxic to plants and is used to destroy unwanted vegetation.) You are blending It with chain triglyceride ( chain triglycerides (MCTs) are partially man-made fats. The name refers to the way the carbon atoms are arranged in their chemical structure. MCTs are generally made by processing coconut and palm kernel oils in the laboratory. Usual dietary fats, by comparison, are long-chain triglycerides. People use MCTs as medicine.) Bulletproof Coffee Is best If consumed first thing In the morning and on an empty stomach or with a light breakfast.

The original Bulletproof coffee involves blending coconut oil a well-known superfood high In medium chain triglycerides. If you didn’t know the original bulletproof coffee calls for grass-fed butter. The healthy fats blended with the coffee help create satiety (the quality or state of being fed or gratified to or beyond capacity) ward off hunger, jump-start the metabolism, and can help the caffeine from coffee digest more slowly, which prevents insulin crashes often caused by caffeine Intake.

I know It sounds too good to be true butter and all. If you are all for grass-fed butter In your coffee you do you and add that butter. I am not too keen adding butter of any kind to my coffee. I’m going to give you some tips on how to make Bulletproof Coffee Vegan and still beneficial just like the original.

Tips:

1) If you aren’t keen on using grass-fed butter or even vegan butter you can simply replace the butter with 1 tablespoon of organic coconut oil or non-organic depending on what you have. Also when looking for coconut oil make sure It’s cold pressed. By making sure your coconut oil Is cold-pressed you are avoiding pesticides and heating agents.

2) Another choice you can use In replace of butter Is coconut butter. I don’t use coconut butter mainly because It Is expensive. But It Is a good option If you are looking for a buttery taste to your coffee that leaves your coffee frothy.

3) If you opt not to use coconut butter or any butter at all you can always add some heavy cream or some non-dairy cream. The coconut oil you add will still make your coffee frothy but by adding some type of creamer your coffee will be extra frothy.

I know you came here for the recipe and I’m about to give you the recipe. I just want to say sorry for adding some facts and getting sidetracked. I thought you would appreciate some facts before the recipe.

Bulletproof Coffee Vegan, Gluten Free,& Keto

The Ingredients: 8 oz. of brewed coffee. ( I make 16 oz. because I love coffee)

1 Tbsp of coconut oil (or any type of butter you are using)

4 packets of stevia ( Or any keto, vegan or gluten-free sweetener of choice)

OPTIONAL: 3 dashes of Pumpkin Pie Spice

OPTIONAL: Creamer of choice

DIRECTIONS: Blended the coffee and all of your Ingredients In a blender. Blend until nice and frothy. Pour Into your coffee mug and sprinkle some extra pumpkin pie spice as a garnish.

Use the pictures as a reference to what It should look like In the blender and I will post a picture of the Ingredients I use every day for my coffee. At the end of the post, I will tell you a little how I feel when I drink bulletproof coffee.

The Ingredients I Use Every day For Bulletproof Coffee

This Is What It Should Look Like While It’s Blending

20180420_130254

And This Is What It Looks Like When It’s Done Blending

20180420_130420

It’s nice and Frothy. When you pour It Into your mug the liquid will pour out first and then the froth. Don’t worry your coffee Is still nice and frothy on top. If you want you can add extra pumpkin pie spice I do. Pumpkin Pie Spice Is a good way to get flavor without extra carbs or calories. But like always you can add double the Ingredients If It fits your macros.

Pruvit Keto Reboot Day 1

In yesterday’s post, I mentioned a few things but the two main things I mentioned was that 1) what Keto Is and how It can be beneficial to overall health and 2) The Keto Reboot by Pruvit. In today’s post, I will give you a rundown on how I am feeling and If I would do It again.

DISCLAIMER: ALWAYS TALK TO YOUR MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL FOR ANY ADVICE ON DETOXES AND THE KETOGENIC LIFESTYLE. Just like with any lifestyle changing If you feel unwell for a longer period of time don’t hesitate to call your doctor. Any advice I give In these type posts are mine and before I give any advice I do TONS of research and I talk to people knowledgeable In that area before I post facts. And like always thank you for reading my posts.

I mentioned yesterday how I am doing the Pruvit 60 hour Keto Reboot. I’m not going to bore you with all of that Infor. If you want to read yesterday’s post It’s a rundown on what Pruvit Keto reboot Is and I explain the Ketogenic “diet”. I will link It below If you want to check It out. Ths post will start from last night when I started It and It will go to tonight.

I started the Reboot 11:30 pm last night (Sunday). I started off by taking the Capsules//OS and I drank the Keto Kalm. I tried the flavor Caramel Apple and let me tell you that tea was VERY sweet I diluted It some and It was still sweet but tolerable. I kid you not.. not even 10 minutes of taking the capsules and taking a few sips of the tea I was already In the bathroom. I sipped on the tea for a little bit and when that tea kicked In I was knocked out until around 11:30 this morning.

11:30 am I got up and I made my first drink of the day and that was the Keto //OS Max In raspberry lemonade. That flavor Is AMAZING! It wasn’t sweet and It tasted like I was drinking a raspberry lemonade. I then took 2 Capsules. Since I am technically 4 1/2 hrs behind the original start of It (8pm) I just redid the schedule to still get the same benefits just has to fit around me.

2-2:30 pm I had my first “meal” of the day. Like I mentioned In yesterdays post due to food allergies I had to switch the flavor from Keto Thyme to Just the Salted Caramel. I lightly heated up my tea kettle and then I poured 12oz of water into a mug and added the bone broth. The bone broth smelled and tasted like salted caramel popcorn. I sipped on It for 20 minutes and It filled me up.

While I waited for the time It was to drink my final Keto Max raspberry lemonade drink I made myself a medium cup of just plain black coffee. My sister Is a pruvit promoter and she told me It was ok to drink black coffee If I felt like I needed the extra pick me up. Around 4:30 I felt that I needed the pick me up so I made myself a medium cup of black coffee and I sipped on that until It was time for the Keto Max.

6pm I made my final Keto Max. Again It was delicious and still, It did not disappoint.

8pm I made another bone broth. I chose to “eat” It like a soup. Again It was filling and It did not disappoint.

11:30pm I again took the final capsules for the day and made the chocolate Keto Kalm tea. The tea Is again sweet but It tasted like hot chocolate so I didn’t mind It.

Overall I am feeling really good. I’m not hungry at all. I did Intermittent fasting In the past so I believe that’s why I’m not feeling hungry. I don’t have any detox symptoms besides using the bathroom. My energy is up and I’m feeling lighter and great. I know It’s only day 1 but tomorrow Is Tuesday and It’s the last day that I am fasting. Not once did I feel like I needed to eat or even wanted to eat. I believe that If I make through today (Monday) than I can finish this Reboot strong. I did take before picture. And when the Reboot Is done I will take an after photo. Depends on how I feel showing the Interwebs my stomach I may or may not post It.

Pruvit Keto Reboot

As the title suggests I will be doing the 60 hour Keto Reboot. The good thing Is that I won’t be doing It alone my sister will be doing It with me. My sister recently became a pruvit promoter I will be posting her link below this post.  She told me she bought two kits one for me and one for her. I have done a detox before I did a 72-hour detox a few years ago but the thing with that was that I was allowed to eat 1 VERY small meal at night before bed. I did lose some weight mainly because I was always In the bathroom.

As the Title has the word Keto In It this will be a lengthy post. I promise you It won’t disappoint.  I will be posting pictures of what the Keto Reboot looks like. I had to change some Items out due to food allergies.

This Pruvit Keto Reboot Isn’t a “detox” It reboots your entire system. In short, It’s designed to reprogram your body to use your fat as energy and ketones Instead of sugar as fuel. This Reboot Is designed to get your body ready for the Ketogenic diet or lifestyle depending on how long you plan on staying In Keto. You’ll Increase your Ketophagy ( Natural cellular detoxification process that recycles and repairs cells through Keto).

DISCLAIMER: I AM NOT A MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL. PLEASE CONSULT YOUR MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL WITH ANY CONCERNS YOU MAY HAVE ABOUT THE KETO REBOOT OR ABOUT THE KETO DIET/LIFESTYLE. WHAT MAY WORK FOR ME MAY NOT WORK FOR YOU. ANY ADVICE I GIVE IN THIS POST IS BASED ON MY EXTENSIVE RESEARCH AND WHAT I HAVE LEARNED ALONG THE WAY.

Okay here Is the thing. I know what you are thinking what the heck Is keto?  The Keto diet Is High Fat roughly around 70-80%, No carbs or as little as possible, and moderate protein. Like I mentioned above Keto Is designed to reset your body. Here Is how It works. Keto works by changing the way the body turns food into energy. Typically, during digestion, we break down carbohydrates — like those found in the verboten foods above — into molecules of fructose, galactose, and glucose, the last of which serves as the body’s primary source of energy. When the body can’t draw it from carbohydrates — either because they’ve been cut out of the diet or because a person hasn’t eaten for a long time — it looks for other forms of energy. The keto diet deliberately places the body in a state of ketosis, where fat is released from cells and turned into ketones, the body’s plan B for energy production. So as long as you stay In ketosis your body will continue to use fat.

When you first go, Keto, you will most likely go through a detox period. Depending on how your diet was before you went Keto depends on If you will have a smooth transition or a rough one In the beginning. I remember when I vegan I went through one hell of a detox. My diet before going vegan was hot pockets, fast food, regular soda, junk food and no exercise. So naturally, when I started giving my body what It craved I went through a detox period. I did lose some weight but I don’t think It was because I went Vegan I think It was because I went through a detox.

Just like for some people who go Vegan they do It for weight loss. This goes for Keto. If you think about It keto Is very similar to the Atkins diet that was popular many years ago. As for the rocky start, you might have brain fog, tiredness, and soreness. These symptoms are natural as your body Is detoxing and your body Is getting used to burning fat as energy Instead of carbs. Your body should detox for a few days and once your done detoxing your body should start feeling more and more normal over time. If you still feel off after 2-3 weeks go and talk to your doctor to make sure nothing serious Is wrong.

The Keto diet Isn’t for everybody. If you had a history of an eating disorder than this Isn’t for you. It’s so restrictive that It can mess with your daily interactions with food and a person’s relationship with food. Again always talk with your medical professional.

Now that you understand what Keto Is and why It Is so beneficial I am now going to talk about the Keto Reboot. The Keto Reboot Is a 60 Hour bone broth fast. It starts every 3rd Sunday of the month. Pictured blow Is what the Keto Reboot comes with.

This next picture Is what the contents of the box look like.

20180415_193802

This next picture shows each product flavor.

20180415_193905

I did take a picture of the Ingredients for each product pictured above but It didn’t come out right and I forgot to fix It.

What I pictured Isn’t what comes with the Reboot Itself. As you probably read the box It comes with Keto Kalm (2 chocolate 1 Caramel Apple), 4 Better Broth ( 2 Keto Thyme and 2 Salted Caramel), 4 Keto//OS Max (2 Caffeine and 2 Caffeine free Raspberry Lemonade), and 10 Signal//OS Capsules. You get all of this for $79.00+ $9 for ground shipping.

Like I mentioned I had to switch some Items out due to food allergies. I have 4 regular (caffeine max) because my sister can’t handle the caffeine (roughly 90mg) and she doesn’t drink tea so she gave me all of her Keto Kalm. As for the bone broth. The keto Thyme has chicken In It and due to food allergies, I can’t have chicken so my sister gave me all of her Salted Caramel and I gave her all of my Keto Thyme.

My sister asked her friend who Is familiar with the Reboot and she said It’s okay to switch anything out that you can’t have. For the Signal//OS Capsules If you have a mushroom allergy, It’s okay not to take the pills. Also If you don’t like drinking tea It’s okay to not drink the tea. The tea Is designed to relax your mind and body before bed so you can get a more restful sleep and also while you sleep It helps the Ketones do their thing so you can get optimal results.

The Keto Reboot starts every 3rd Sunday of the month. Sunday you will eat normally. and at 8pm It starts. Here Is the thing depending on your schedule you can start It. For me, I don’t go to bed until 1-2 so I’ll stop eating at 10 pm and around midnight I’ll drink the Keto Kalm.

The schedule I am about to give Is the schedule that they prefer you to follow. I don’t follow the schedule because I go to bed late and I wake up late. But upon me waking up I will make the raspberry Keto//OS max. Then maybe around 2 I will take the Capsules. Around 4 I will have the Keto Broth (Salted Caramel). Then around 5, I will drink another Keto//OS max. I know 180 mg of caffeine may seem like a lot. But for me, It Is not. Then around 8 or 9, I will have another Salted Caramel Bone Broth. And finally around 11 I will drink the Keto Kalm and take the capsules.

The schedule I mentioned above Is the schedule I will follow for the entire reboot. I know It will be hard going without food but for me, It shouldn’t be a problem (hopefully) because I did Intermittent fasting and I went almost 16 hours a day without food. So hopefully I will survive. My sister has NEVER done a detox before. She Is excited and nervous. She also Is saying that she won’t last a whole day without food. But she Is looking forward to losing the bloat and water weight as am I.

There Is a 3 day period where you have to slowly ease back Into food. You are allowed to do LIGHT exercises like yoga or light stretches. Make sure you get In plenty of water. I know duh right?

And to finish off this post I’m going to list symptoms you may experience during the Keto Reboot.

Oily Skin~ Is probably the first thing you’ll notice don’t worry It’s toxins leaving your body

Headaches~I know during detoxes I experience headaches mainly due to the lack of caffeine. If you drink high amounts of caffeine or eat tons of sugar you will most likely experience headaches.

Sweat~If you sweat don’t worry Sweat helps your organs to engage in eliminating toxins.

Cold~Your body Is conserving energy because It realizes something Is going on.

Emotional~ It could be because your liver Is detoxing and that Is a side effect of a liver detox or maybe because you can’t eat.

Euphoria~ Once you come close to the end of the reboot and your body Is now burning fat Instead of sugar you might feel strong and motivated.

There are a lot more symptoms you could have but the ones I mentioned are the most common ones and ones I’ve experienced In the past.

CBD (Hemp) Oil for Pets

Today I will be talking about something that to some might be quite controversial. Today’s post Is about CBD oil for your pets and what benefits It has for your pets. I will talk about what CBD oil Is and what benefits are for your pets for long-term health. At the end of this post, I will be posting 3 pictures of the brand of CBD oil I use for my dogs. It’s 100% Organic,Non-GMO, Gluten- Free, All natural& Organic Hemp Oil.  I paid $37.00 with no tax For 1 fluid oz. Of product. And that Is a 30 day supply for 1 single dog. I have 2 dogs that I use It for and my sister uses It for 2 of her cats. Let’s just say the bottle Is almost empty.

DISCLAIMER: CBD Oil may not be for every pet. Obviously, check with your vet and do your own research. I did my own research Into It and I felt comfortable buying It. Please, no rude comments I will delete your comment and you will be blocked. I’m here to give my opinion on It and why I think you should add It to your pets vitamin routine.

The first thing I am going to mention Is what CBD Oil Is.

CBD is one of many compounds, known as cannabinoids, that are found in the cannabis plant. Researchers have been looking at the potential therapeutic uses of CBD.

Oils that contain concentrations of CBD are known as CBD oils. The concentration and uses of different oils vary.

what I mentioned above Is simple and straight to the point of what It Is. If you want a more scientific compound you can always google It? Or I can just put It here but I won’t since the post would be super long. Here Is a link explaining what CBD Is.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cannabidiol

The next thing when researching CBD oil Is It Marijuana? And the answer to that Is no and here Is what I found.

Until recently, the most well-known compound in cannabis was delta-9 tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). This is the most active ingredient in marijuana.

Marijuana contains both THC and CBD, but the compounds have different effects.

THC is well-known for the mind-altering “high” it produces when broken down by heat and introduced into the body, such as when smoking the plant or cooking it into foods.

Unlike THC, CBD is not psychoactive. This means that it does not change the state of mind of the person who uses it. However, it does appear to produce significant changes in the body and has been found to have medical benefits.

Most of the CBD used medicinally is found in the least processed form of the cannabis plant, known as hemp.

Hemp and marijuana come from the same plant, cannabis sativa, but they are very different.

Over the years, marijuana farmers have selectively bred their plants to be very high in THC and other compounds that interested them, either for a smell or an effect they had on the plant’s flowers.

On the other hand, hemp farmers have not tended to modify the plant. It is these hemp plants that are used to create CBD oil.

So for me, I felt comfortable In that Info and I went ahead to research the benefits what CBD oil for dogs.  I do get laughed at or questioned what I do something for my dogs. Recently I started adding 2 Tbsp of Apple Cider Vinegar every other day to my dog’s water. I won’t talk about that today that Itself deserves It own post because there are TONS of benefits to giving your pets ACV. I will give 1 reason and the reason that I started giving my dogs ACV Is that they both where suffering from constipation and I was looking for a more natural way to cure It. My friend came over and explained to me how much to give them and when to give It to them. I did and let me tell you by the very next afternoon they were back to normal.

So here Is the part that most of you scrolled to or have been waiting to read and that Is what are the freaking benefits of CBD oil for your dogs. There are benefits for cats as well but since I only personally own dogs the benefits are for dogs unless I state otherwise.

Here are some testimonials I found while doing research.

A senior Staffordshire Terrier had a 6cm mammary tumor and metastasis that disappeared in 3 months and didn’t come back …

A Jack Russell Terrier had a severe heart murmur and painful arthritis and, after a month, he wanted to go for long walks and his murmur was much improved

  1. CBD oil reduces anxiety In dogs and can help with separation problems. My Beabull has both. When I take my Pitbull for a walk or a trip to the vet without him he barks like almost yelling. Now when I give him his daily dose he Is calm and playful not anxious when I leave without. I am working with him to be my emotional support dog so hopefully, with training and CBD oil, he’ll be ready full the public full time.

2. CBD and other substances found in hemp and cannabis have been found to have an anti-tumor effect. CBD has even been shown to stop cancer cells from growing and increased tumor cell death.

1.CBD helps the immune system’s killer cells to cause cancer cell death.

2.CBD kills cancer cells by blocking their ability to produce energy.

3.CBD’s anti-tumor properties slow and inhibit glioma cell growth.

4.CBD can help increase the efficacy of conventional cancer treatment

Those benefits do the same for humans. Who wouldn’t want to prevent cancer cells from growing or stop cancer all together?

3. CBD oil can prevent Seizures Epilsey It’s estimated that up to 5% of dogs suffer from seizures. Most dogs with seizures are put on drugs such as phenobarbital and potassium bromide. While they may help control the seizures, they can be extremely harmful to your dog’s liver and other organs. And the drugs don’t work in all cases.

CBD has been shown to work well in drug-resistant epilepsy. In one study, 7 of 8 patients with epilepsy that was resistant to drugs saw a definite improvement within 4 to 5 months of taking CBD.

4. It helps relieve pain. If your dog suffers from arthritis or If your dog got Injured or just had surgery CBD oil can naturally help relieve the pain without you having to give your pet pain medication. Honestly, I wish I knew CBD oil was a thing last summer when my Pitbull had surgery. I felt so bad giving him pain medication that he didn’t even want. If I knew about CBD I would’ve gladly spent the money.

5. Helps with appetite. When a dog loses their appetite, it can be hard to know the reason why. Majority of the time, however, they lose it due to nausea. As a human, we won’t eat when we feel like that unless we take something to alleviate the digestive issue and receive pain relief. CBD can do this for your pet. Again If I knew about CBD I would’ve gotten this sooner for my dogs because like I said when my Pitbull had surgery he lost his appetite and I had to entice him to eat.

6. Helps with cardiovascular and other diseases. Inflammatory Bowel Disease, Autoimmune Disease, Neurodegenerative Disease, and Cardiovascular Disease.

7. Can help prevent/Treat Diabetes. I have a Beabull he Is a mix of Beagle/ English Bulldog with those 2 breeds he Is prone to diabetes. I give my 2 dogs a relatively healthy diet with organic fruits, veggies and good herbs like turmeric, parsley, basil, Himalayan sea salt, chia seeds, hemp seeds and cinnamon. I’m very fortunate that because of the things I do for them that they are healthy at almost 8 years old.

8.Helps with allergies. I don’t know about your dog(s) but my dogs suffer from seasonal allergies. My Beabull Isn’t as bad just some runny eyes and sneezing. My Pitbull, however, SUFFERS BAD! His chest gets red, he breaks out in hives, he licks his paws raw, he sneezes and you know what seasonal allergies bring. I can treat him for his allergies but CBD oil can help more by calming him so he won’t be focused on his itching and uncomfortableness.

9.Sleep. I don’t give CBD oil for my dogs to sleep because they know once I go to bed the come with me and they fall to sleep with me. I give 1 daily dose of CBD oil usually midday and It calms both dogs down for the rest of the day. I am able to take my Beabull for a walk and not have him chase every car or bird he sees and I can walk my Pitbull with or without CBD. I mainly give my Pitbull CBD for preventative health. Like I said I’m VERY fortunate that they are healthy.

10. Training. I mentioned earlier that I am training my Beabull to be my Emotional Support dog. So when I give him his CBD oil It calms him and we can work on whatever training Is on the schedule for that day.

11. Supplement. I give my dogs CBD oil for preventative health. It’s part of their daily routine with other beneficial things they get besides daily exercise and healthy treats.

12. No Side Effects. This Is the best part. If you follow the bottles Instructions there shouldn’t be any side effects unless If you give your dog too much. If you suspect that you did PLEASE call your vet right away. My dogs haven’t had any side effects because when I give them their drop I make sure It’s a drop sometimes a little more may drip off the applicator but that’s fine.

I am all for Improving my pet’s overall health. If It’s going to benefit them and after some research, I approve and talking to a friend I’ll go out and buy It. I don’t want you to feel like you have to buy CBD oil for your dog after reading this. If your vet says that your dog Is In good health than don’t worry about It. I don’t listen to my vet very often (unless necessary) and I go with my doggie mom Instincts and I buy what I feel Is best for my dogs. I’ll admit I spend too much money on Items for my dogs that just went to waste. And I also want to say please talk to your vet, do your research and be your dog’s advocate. The vet can’t help you If you don’t tell Him/Her your concerns. I’m very fortunate that the vet my dogs see are very knowledgeable In all areas even veganism for dogs even though he disagreed with me (my dogs are no longer vegan) I did It anyway and they thrived until my Beabull became allergic to something and switched their food.
Here are 3 pictures of the CBD oil I buy for my Dogs and I guess also now my sisters’ cats. It’s $37.00 out of pocket. The CBD oil Is by the brand ests (earth science tech)

Here Is a link to the CBD oil I buy the prices online Is higher than what I pay In person at my natural foods store.

Meditation Tips

Today I’m going to discuss some meditation tips to help get you started. These aren’t going to make you an expert overnight that comes with a lot of practice and patience. If you are Interested In learning meditation from a not so expert but knows what she’s talking about then, please keep reading.

I mentioned In some of my other posts that I was learning meditation. Recently I’ve been back on a spiritual path and while that Is making me feel like myself again I still felt like I was missing something. My emotional path has been a struggle for the last 9 years because of being In a not so happy “relationship” now being back on a spiritual path emotionally and physically I’ve felt more at peace.

Real quick. I haven’t been happy with my body for a long time and I always felt like I need to look a certain way for men to want to date me. I’m sure other women felt the same way. Since being newly single I started yoga you can call me a beginner yogi. During that time I felt something Inside me that I never felt and that was peace. Peace with how my body looks. Yes, I work out but I do It for myself. You know what people say when New Year’s Eve rolls around “New Year New Me”. Well Instead of that It’s new single me.

I decided that I was going to start meditating again. When I use to meditate back In the day I was meditating for 1-2 hours every morning and night. Since I’m new to this again because the ex-didn’t believe In spirituality or meditating or even Buddha and that’s fine everyone Is Intitled to their own opinions. So since I’ve been out of the game for 9 years I want to start off with a time that I know I can do. So I started off with 5 minutes.

I know that for someone who’s been meditating for years 5 minutes seems like seconds. The reason why I wanted to start off with 5 minutes because I remember when I use to meditate In the past I started off with 5 minutes and I felt relaxed and calm and was easily able to fall asleep with little to no trouble.

Now I’m going to discuss some meditation tips. These tips weren’t really around when I started meditating.

1.Start with 5 minutes. I know this might seem easy. Let me tell you 5 minutes does seem like an eternity when you are within your own mind. I did 5 minutes a night for 2 weeks straight. Once you have no problem with meditating for 5 minutes Increase It by another 5 minutes and If you can’t do 10 minutes you can always add 1 minute every 2 weeks.

2.Most recommend meditating first thing In the morning. It’s the best way to start off your morning. I meditate at night because I sleep through the morning. In my opinion, as long as you set time aside to meditate than It shouldn’t matter when you do It as long as you do It.

3.Just Do It. If you google how to meditate some blogs will tell you to sit outside, with a mat and some crystals. Honestly, It doesn’t where you do It as long as you do It. I sit on my bed with my legs crossed, I turn off my light and I close my eyes and I breathe to be In the moment. I close my eyes and I just release all the negative thoughts I had or may have and I think of positive things that make me happy or goals I want to accomplish.

4.Your feelings are normal. If you are feeling depressed, sad, anxious or even angry those are natural feelings. While you are In a meditating session close your eyes and think to yourself why you are feeling those feelings? With every breath just release any tension and negative thoughts you may have.

5.Your mind will wander. When you are In the moment of meditating and you start to release negative thoughts and stress your mind might start to wander. When your mind starts to wander let It as long as you aren’t thinking of negative thoughts then letting your mind wander when you are starting out Is perfectly fine.

6. You’ll notice things. I remember when I was In high school I had to do this report where I sit In a quiet place for an hour and during that hour I have to write down what I hear. When you are actually listening to the world around you-you begin to hear things that you may not have had paid attention to before. You might freak yourself out and I would say that Is normal but I’m not sure If It Is or not. I know when I first started meditating I freaked myself out because I actually opened my ears and heard the world around me. Now meditating In my room at night I have my window open since the weather Is getting nicer so not only do I hear the world outside I hear the “house” noises.

7.Be Serious. Meditation takes practice. If you want to achieve a certain level then you need to be consistent. Try to commit yourself for 2 weeks. If you make It to two weeks then try adding another week and so forth. If you are trying to achieve a higher In meditating than you need to be consistent.

8.You can do It anywhere. You don’t have to have a specific place In your home to meditate. Some do because they take that part of their home and they make It Into a spiritual corner of their home. I meditate In my room because that is where I feel the safest and the calmest. But you do you. If you feel comfortable meditating outside, In the car (as long as you aren’t driving), Train If you take the train. The point Is meditate when you have the time and If you aren’t home and you feel like you need that meditating session then you do what you gotta do.

9.Keep a Journal. I don’t personally do It but some keep a journal and when they are done meditating that person will write down their thoughts and how they felt while they were In the moment. If you keep a journal do It. You don’t have to do It.

10. Find a community. Find a community or groups that also meditate. In the groups, they will meet up sometimes daily, weekly, only on the weekends, and monthly. You can look on facebook or google or even the app called meet up. The meetup app once you sign up you choose what activities you are Interested In and they show you when the next meet up Is for that activity. There are groups for beginner meditating and experienced. Just google and find a group that suits you.

Whatever your reasonings are for wanting to meditate just have fun with the journey. You’ll feel so many different emotions In the beginning and just go with the flow of them as long as you don’t act upon negative emotions. Remember there Is no right or wrong way to meditate and If you feel like you’re doing It wrong stick with It and that feeling will change.
