Avocado is a pear like shaped fruit. Avocados are known for their health benefits all over the world. Avocados contain essential nutrients which are used to treat various skin conditions and health problems. Avocados contain 25 natural vitamins and minerals. It is also rich in fibers, proteins, and beneficial phytochemicals. Avocado is used in lowering the cholesterol levels, heart health, and avocados can help increase the menstrual flow. They are even used to provide relief from diarrhea and dysentery (infection of the intestines resulting in severe diarrhea with the presence of blood and mucus in the feces.)
I just listed all the great things about avocados but what about the cons? With like every pro there are cons and avocados are no exception. Today I will give a list of cons that avocados may bring.
Disclaimer: This is just my personal opinions on what I learned and researched. If you eat avocados with no issues then you keep eating them.
Avocados List Of Cons
1.) If you are pregnant or breastfeeding: Avocados has been linked to lower milk production in breastfeeding moms if consumed in large amounts.
2.) Weight Gain: Avocados are high in dietary fat. One avocado provides almost 30 grams of dietary fat and 322 calories. The good news is that the majority of the fat in avocados is healthy, unsaturated fat. However, even healthy fats can cause unwanted weight gain if you consume them in excess.
3.) Allergies: Yes, you can have allergies to avocados even though it’s rare and unheard of I myself have a sensitivity to avocados. Avocado allergies exist and can cause unpleasant side effects, especially when avocados are eaten in excess. If you believe that you may have an allergy to avocados try cutting them out of your diet for 4-6 weeks and see if your symptoms disappear.
4.) Avocados can be expensive: Avocados can range from $2 and go as high as $3.99. The higher price is usually for organic. The cost can add up if you eat one avocado a day every day. If you’re one of the lucky ones that catch them on sale then stock up on them bad boys.
5.) Stress on liver: For those who have liver health issues, avocados may be too much of a good thing. That’s because this fruit encourages collagen formation and that may damage the liver depending on how many avocados are consumed on a daily basis. If the collagen cannot be properly processed, there is a good chance that its accumulation could result in the development of fibrosis. Talk to your doctor before adding avocados to your diet!
6.) Hypersensitivity and Avocado: People suffering from hypersensitivity should avoid eating avocado. It may cause skin reaction or vomiting.
7.) Medicine: Avocado in large amounts may decrease the effect of an anti-inflammatory medication. Hence, its excess consumption leads to blood thinning.
8.) High In Calories: If you are on any type of diet avocados won’t fit in your macros since they are a high-calorie food.
Coming up with this it was hard. Overall avocados aren’t that bad for you. The key is moderation.
