Soda You Should Always Stay Away From

Coca-Cola Life

When you do, you’ll realize ( and you will) that Coca-Cola life and its natural packaging is just there to distract you from the cold, hard facts: The hard nutrition facts that is. A 12-ounce can of Coca-Cola Life contains a whopping 24 grams of sugar, which is especially troubling given the recent World Health Organization recommendation to reduce our daily sugar intake to about 25 grams a day to most effectively ward off obesity, heart disease, cancer, and diabetes.

Sure, opting for the green can over the red will save you 50 calories and 15 grams of sugar–which is helpful if you’re trying to lose weight (mmmm)–but marking the beverage as a “healthy alternative” to full-calorie cola is a real- real stretch. In fact, Coca-Cola Life can pack in as much sugar as you’ll get from eating three Apple n Spice Donuts from Dunkin’ (again I’m all for a splurge here and there but seriously do you want to even eat donuts now?) In addition to being void of any and all health-promoting nutrients, vitamins, and minerals. It’s LOADED with artificial dyes that are possible human carcinogens like its high-cal counterparts.

My official stance: Leave Coca-Cola Life and all other sodas on the supermarket shelf. If you’re sick of plain of H20, opt for unsweetened tea or coffee instead.
