The New Sports Drink That Is Backed By Beyoncé

It’s free from a belly-ballooning amount of sugar and chock-full of potassium to help you recover.  When Beyoncé invests in a fruity drink brand that’s not lemonade, you know it’s gotta be amazing. The makers of WTRMLN WTR, who have mastered the art of harnessing summer and bottling it in the form of watermelon juice, just debuted a new functional sports drink. It’s dubbed WTRMLNSLCE and it packs in awesome ingredients that will help you debloat as well as it will get you through that grueling workout.

What Ingredients Are in WTRMLNSLCE?

WTRMLNSLCE features zero artificial sweeteners and just 15 calories and 2 grams of natural sugar from watermelon per serving as well as thirst-quenching electrolytes, sodium-regulating potassium, collagen-forming vitamin C, and L-citrulline—an amino acid linked to improving workout performance, increased energy, and improved blood flow. In fact, one 2016 study found that the amino acid helped cyclists improve their timing as well as decrease muscle soreness while another study showed that L-citrulline improved muscle blood flow during exercise in older men.

How does WTRMLNSLCE stack up to Gatorade?

PER BOTTLE (16 OZ): 30 calories, 0 g fat, 36 mg sodium, 6 g carbs (0 g fiber, 4 g sugar), 0 g protein

Gatorade Citrus Cooler

PER BOTTLE (20 OZ): 140 calories, 0 g fat, 270 mg sodium, 36 g carbs (0 g fiber, 34 g sugar), 0 g protein

Gatorade relies on fast-acting simple sugars to lend you an energy boost and, not to mention, an unnecessary addition of added calories. On the contrary, WTRMLNSLCE contains just 4 grams of sugar per bottle and 185 milligrams more potassium than Gatorade packs in. Potassium, both a mineral and electrolyte, helps your muscles recover more efficiently after exercise.

How Does it Taste?

While we’re all for this fruity sports drink‘s stellar nutritional profile, I know you’re wondering about how the flavor stacks up. After trying all four flavors: Original, Blood Orange, Tart Cherry, and Lemon Ginger, I was quite impressed (my favorite is the Lemon Ginger). I loved that the sips were slightly tangy and boasted a hint of flavor coming from the respective fruity additions. Unlike Gatorade, which derives most of its flavor from sugar, I didn’t get any sweetness from WTRMLNSLCE.

An Environmentally-Conscious Secret Behind the Beverage

I also love that the brand’s mission is to reduce food waste, which is why it uses only “ugly fruit” in its beverages—a process that’s predicted to save over 50 million discarded melons in 2018 alone. With WTRMLN WTR and our newest shelf-stable product line, WTRMLNSLCE, They source both the watermelon flesh and watermelon rind of the juicy fruit, which provides a boost of nutrients and electrolytes.

Final Thoughts

It starts at the source. We hand-skin the melons and extract the flesh and rind, and our leftovers are used to create animal feed for farms local to our manufacturing facilities.” Much like Lemonade. If you have any questions about today’s post, past post or any questions, in general, please don’t hesitate in reaching out and I will be more than happy to answer any questions you may have.
